The Center
With comfortable furniture, windows, and a welcoming atmosphere, the Center offers the campus community a quiet space to relax, reconnect, and rejuvenate.
Our Center (the LDCW) provides a forum to advance gender equity and support the community. We welcome all students, faculty, staff, and community members to engage with our programs and resources. We strive to examine and break down gender stereotypes and gender roles, foster the intellectual, personal, and spiritual development of all community members, and promote an open and diverse culture at the University of St. Thomas. The LDCW was established in 1993 by a special bequest from Dr. Luann Dummer’s estate.

2026
Join us on March 5, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., at the O’Shaughnessy Education Center Auditorium at the University of St. Thomas for a moderated discussion between Elaine Welteroth and Dr. Janell Hobson.
These two heavy-hitters of journalism will be weighing in on the long history of crucial feminist voices in the ever-changing media landscape. This evening is the latest in over 30 years of the March Women's History Month Speakers Series sponsored by the Luann Dummer Center for Women.
This is a free event.
We offer students, faculty, staff and community members a wide variety of opportunities to further the mission of our Center while fulfilling their own intellectual curiosities.
The LDCW space offers resources for all members of the St. Thomas community!
With comfortable furniture, windows, and a welcoming atmosphere, the Center offers the campus community a quiet space to relax, reconnect, and rejuvenate.
The LDCW carries a vast collection of books—from novels to essays—that highlight women throughout history.
Inspired by Luann’s own collection, the Center holds diverse works including painting, pottery, sculpture, photography, book arts, weaving, quilting, beadwork, mixed media and a grave rubbing.
Many Voices has been in publication for over 15 years, highlighting LDCW programming and amplifying voices across campus.

Over the years, the LDCW has made a tremendous investment in both the campus and Twin Cities communities. I am committed to maintaining the traditions of the Center and ensuring that our doors are open to all. I look forward to engaging with faculty, staff, students, and community members interested in every discipline to further our mission.

Dr. Liz Wilkinson’s teaching and research brings together seemingly divergent interests in indigenous literature, feminism and sports. A former college athlete herself, Dr. Wilkinson is writing an article about 19th and 20th century female athletes and women’s suffrage, and a book on sports and feminism.
