Construction Projects
Facilities Management has numerous construction projects on the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses. Every new project, from residence hall remodels to brand new construction, goes through a rigorous process to ensure we are building sustainable buildings for the future.
Microgrid
The University of St. Thomas is constructing an expansion for the which will be located on the University's south campus in St. Paul on the south side of Owen's Science Hall. The expansion will provide additional research space and equipment to support the growing demand for microgrid research. The project will also reintroduce support spaces for biology and an elevated greenhouse.
Morrison Family College of Health Suite
Construction will begin in January 2026 of 8,000 square feet of unfinished space in the university’s newest and largest academic facility, the Schoenecker Center – accelerating St. Thomas’ ability to meet rising demand for its nursing programs and providing students with state-of-the-art learning environments. It marks the first step in a broader vision for program expansion within the Morrison Family College of Health. The space will be primarily used for the College of Nursing and include simulation rooms, a skills lab, offices, and other general teaching and support spaces for the program. The nursing spaces will be modeled according to similar spaces in the University of St. Thomas Summit Classroom building.
Grotto Landscape Restoration and Improvement
Located south of Archbishop Ireland Memorial Library and northwest of Brady Education Center on the University of St. Thomas’ St. Paul Campus, the Grotto area is part of a landscape restoration and improvement project taking place summer 2026. This project will reestablish the stations of the cross, improve the path along the stream and revitalize the landscape in the area.

Lee and Penny Anderson Arena
- The is the new home for the Tommie Men's and Women's Ice Hockey and Basketball programs! Located on the University's south campus in St. Paul, the arena also includes state-of-the-art practice facilities for both ice hockey and basketball.

Schoenecker Center
- University's central home for STEAM education at St. Thomas.
- STEAM education describes the exciting connections among science, technology, engineering, the arts and math.
- Opened on February 5, 2024.
